| Breast Uplift Quick Facts: Operation: Breast Uplift Description: Breast Uplift is a technique to lift the breasts when cuases such as child birth and more likely gravity have meant that the breasts have begun to, or are, drooping. In most cases the scar is centred around the areola and excess skin is removed to restore some of the previous shape. Length of Operation*: 2.5-3 hours Recover time**: 10 Days Back to work in**: 2 Weeks Discomfort during Recovery**: Light to Moderate Breast uplift surgery is performed on patients who still have a good amount of breast tissue, however, the skin around the breast has lost its elasticity, and for this reason the breast becomes saggy and droopy. The idea of the breast uplift is to cut away the surplus skin to tighten the area around the tissue giving a fuller breast that sits in a more natural position and shape. There is no age limit to breast uplift surgery as skin can become inelastic after being stretched during pregnancy and breast feeding, and also after dieting for a period of time. The uplift is no restricted to women of a particular age, and indeed younger women do have this surgery performed; however, it is most common in women over 40 years of age. The breast uplift at Castlefield Clinic is carried out under local anaesthetic with sedation which minimises the risks normally associated with a general anaesthetic. The technique of anaesthesia also means that there is less bruising and a quicker recovery time with no need for an over night stay.
